X-Plane 12 and 11
Add-on manager for X-Plane 12 and X-Plane 11
Aircraft, scenery and plugins belong in different X-Plane directories. Tap Flight detects the simulator root and puts compatible archive-based add-ons in the location intended for their type.
What Tap Flight handles
- Detects the simulator root. Finds X-Plane 12 and 11 installations on Windows. A copy on another drive or in a custom directory can be selected manually.
- Uses the right content directory. Compatible aircraft go to Aircraft, scenery to Custom Scenery and plugins to Resources/plugins instead of every archive being unpacked into one folder.
- One library and queue. Your compatible rupmdg.com purchases and add-ons are installed from one account, with download and unpacking progress in a visible queue.
- Keeps versions separate. X-Plane 11 and 12 compatibility is checked per product; the page never assumes an add-on built for one major version works in the other.
How to start
- Install Tap Flight. Follow the Windows install guide and sign in to your rupmdg.com account.
- Connect X-Plane. Let the app detect X-Plane 12 or 11, or choose the simulator root manually.
- Check compatibility. Select an add-on that explicitly supports your major X-Plane version and review any listed dependencies.
- Install and start X-Plane. Tap Flight places the compatible package in its destination. Start the simulator and verify new scenery order when the product instructions require it.
Frequently asked questions
- Does Tap Flight support X-Plane 12 and 11?
- Yes. Both major versions are detected and treated as separate simulator installations.
- Where are X-Plane add-ons installed?
- It depends on their type: aircraft use Aircraft, scenery uses Custom Scenery, and plugins use Resources/plugins.
- Does every X-Plane 11 add-on work in X-Plane 12?
- No. Compatibility is product-specific, especially for aircraft, plugins and scenery that relies on older libraries.
- Will Tap Flight overwrite scenery_packs.ini?
- The page does not promise that. X-Plane maintains that file, and a complex custom scenery stack may still need manual priority checks.
